Dr. Hyatt was born and raised in Baltimore, Maryland. He received his undergraduate Bachelor of Science degree at the University of Maryland College Park in 1980. He then attended the University of Maryland Dental School earning his doctorate in dental surgery degree in 1984. From 1984 to 1986 he completed a one-year general practice residency in dentistry, and then an additional year in anesthesiology at the Mt. Sinai Medical Center in Miami Beach, Florida. He then returned to Baltimore, completed a four-year residency, and received his certificate in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery from the Johns Hopkins Hospital and the University of Maryland in 1990. He joined Dr. Schwartz in private practice in 1990. Dr. Hyatt has served as the principal investigator in numerous research studies involving the development of pain medications. Baltimore Magazine has noted him many times as one of the area’s outstanding oral and maxillofacial surgeons.
He is a board certified oral and maxillofacial surgeon (diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery), fellow of the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, fellow of the American College of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, fellow of the American College of Dentists, and member of numerous national professional dental organizations including the American Dental Association, the Middle Atlantic Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, and the Maryland State Dental Association.
Dr. Hyatt is a former board member of the Maryland State Board of Dental Examiners and the Northeast Regional Board of Dental Examiners (1994 to 2000). He is a past-president of the Baltimore County Dental Association (2003-2004). Dr. Hyatt is currently a member of the Dean’s Faculty at the University of Maryland Dental School and is the Division Chief of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery at the Greater Baltimore Medical Center.
Hobbies and interests include golfing, skiing, and hiking. He enjoys spending time outside the office with his wonderful wife Barbara, daughters Allison and Anna, and son Jacob.
