Dr. Fried was born in Brooklyn and raised in Westchester County, New York. He received his undergraduate Bachelor of Science degree from New York University in 1974 and then attended the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine, earning his doctorate in dental medicine (DMD) in 1978. From 1978 to 1979 he completed a general practice residency in dentistry at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Bronx, New York. In 1982, he completed a three year residency and received his certificate in oral and maxillofacial surgery from Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami, Florida. From July 1982 to May 1984 he held a part-time teaching position at Mount Sinai Hospital while in private practice in oral and maxillofacial surgery in Miami Beach, Florida. He has been in private practice in Baltimore, Maryland sine June 1984, combining practices with Dr. Schwartz and Dr. Hyatt in July, 2009. Baltimore Magazine has noted him many times as one of the areas outstanding oral and maxillofacial surgeons.
He is a board certified oral and maxillofacial surgeon (diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery), fellow of the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, fellow of the American College of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, and member of numerous national professional dental organizations including the American Dental Association, the Middle Atlantic Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, and the Maryland State Dental Association, and the American Dental Society of Anesthesiology.
Dr. Fried is a consultant for the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care, Inc. (Oct. 2005 to present). He is past secretary of the Maimonidies Dental Study Club, and a Fellow of the Pierre Fauchard Academy. Dr. Fried has hospital privileges at Sinai Hospital and ,the Greater Baltimore Medical Center. He is on staff at the Surgicenter of Baltimore in Owings Mills, MD.
Hobbies and interests include hiking, traveling, theater, and music. He enjoys spending time outside the office with his wife Ann, daughters Rachel, Ilana, and Michele, and son David.
